Altrata client stories: Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra

10 September 2025

Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra

Jemma Crossley, Development Officer, Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra

Video transcript: It’s an exciting time, but also a very tricky time for fundraising and philanthropy.

We as an arts organization, I mean, for the Oxford Phil particularly, we rely on individual donors, individual philanthropy, trusts and foundations for the vast majority of what we do.

So constantly being on the lookout for new donors and new prospects is something that we’re having to, you know, continually tackle. And given the landscape at the moment is trying to find ways of, you know, our old connections, our new connections, seeing what else they can bring to the forefront for us.

And so I guess one of the challenges at the moment is really looking at how we identify those as effectively as possible, which is where then, you know, [Altrata’s] Wealth-X for us in particular comes into play with helping us with that. But yeah, it’s really just finding sort of where we should be looking.

We’re the Oxford Philharmonic, but we also are based heavily in London. So it’s balancing between those two: do we look more Oxford based? Do we look London? Do we look further? So yeah, it’s really just pinpointing who it is we’re looking for.

With orchestras as well, you’re very often there might be someone there that you’re looking for, there might be a donor right there in, in the seats in front of you and you know, in the Sheldonian for us, they’re probably there, we just don’t know where. So it’s ways to help us, you know, identify that.
